I made a new section on Flickr: Children's Book Peregrinations. They are some concepts I was exploring that ended up in cul-de-sacs. It would be nice to have them available online since I'd like to tell stories professionally but conceptually...they don't rest comfortably on my website. Peregrinations ,by the way, is a cool word. I like to peregrinate into the various ways to use peregrinations.
This story was about 'the elephant in the room' that a family chooses to ignore, especially the birthday boy. The elephant represents a very specific situation and the emotions regarding the situation at play. I stopped working on it because I thought the topic was a little too introspective and heavy. When I consider the topic now I realize kids are only as unreceptive as we allow them to be, I'm not giving them enough credit.
